Upcoming Cowboy Christmas


MONROE, NORTH CAROLINA – The US Equine Rescue League (USERL) is planning a Cowboy Christmas event to be held Sunday, November 15, 2009 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Wild West Town at Southern Breezes, 4126 Medlin Road, Monroe, NC 28112. There will be horse drawn wagon rides, an opportunity to meet some of the rescue horses, a petting zoo, and plenty of shopping for the cowboys and cowgirls on your Christmas list. The USERL will be selling hot chocolate, hot mulled cider and baked goods to keep everyone warm.

The proceeds from this event will benefit horses rescued from abuse and neglect in the Central Piedmont Region of North Carolina. The USERL is also looking for vendors to sell their wares that day. The annual parade of breeds - bigger and better!!!!!
PLEASE be sure to come out and invite all of your friends and neighbors!!!!!!

We have what is shaping up to be a REALLY good silent auction - hopefully that will be a big fund raiser this year!

Center City Carriages will be giving horse drawn carriage rides around Chetola Farms.
Richard Stone and Thor will be giving rides in the fore kart.
We have a volunteer with a 14 passenger van that has offered to be a shuttle from parking - since last year people were parking up to a mile away!
James River Equipment will be there with tractors and ATVs.

Spiro's Hilltop will be there providing a really good lunch!

Professional Photographer, Ray Olszewski will be there taking photos of the horses - if you want your photo with a horse be sure to let him know!

Purina will be giving a Horse Owner Workshop talk at 1:00 p.m. and a special talk on taking care of older horses at 2:00 p.m.
Dr. Robbie Whaley will be there with his horse scales
Equimapping will be giving a demo at 1:30 p.m. and they will be available to do a scan for $25 or a complete work up with your tack for $75

LOTs of FREEBIES have been donated by many of the breed associations!!!!

The Parade of Breeds starts at 3:00 sharp!

Come early to wander through the barns, meet the horses and their owners, learn more about some of the breeds.
If you are new to horses, this is a good opportunity to ask questions about what you need to do when you own a horse!
There will be some really rare breeds there - the Akhal Tekes (Russian Horses), Norwegian Fjords, Fresians, Minis, and Andalusians to name a few!

The best part is there will be lots of USERL rescue horses there - some adopted and many AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!

Parade of Breeds Horse Exhibition Sunday October 25, 2009 noon till 6 p.m.


The Parade of Breeds horse exhibition is an opportunity for the public to come out and see horses up close. Come early to pick your favorite breed of horse. Visitors can talk to the horse owners and learn more about the horses and find out what is involved in owning a horse. The parade will start at 3:00 p.m. sharp and all of the horses you meet will show off in front of the crowd in the covered arena with bleacher seating. You will see examples of what the horses are used for and learn interesting facts!

This is a rare opportunity to meet exotic breeds like the Akhal Teke, an extremely rare breed of horse from Russia. The Norwegian Fjord is another rare breed that you will get to meet. Also meet and visit with the beautiful Arabians, the showy Saddlebreds, the all American Quarter Horse, the adorable miniature horses, and the Paso Fino’s of our host farm; Chetola Farms will be showcased. Chetola has many National and World Champions raised and trained at Chetola Farms.

Admission to the Parade of Breeds is FREE with a suggested donation to the US Equine Rescue League (USERL). Meet some of the USERL rescue horses that have been restored to health and are looking for a forever home. You will also have a chance to meet some of the adopted rescue horses that have benefited directly from donations made to the USERL.

Concessions will be available from Spiro’s Hilltop. USERL merchandise will be available for purchase throughout the day. There will be a big silent auction with many items for the horsey folks and the non-horsey folks. Eric Shupe, Purina Horse Nutrition Expert will be giving a presentation at 1:00 p.m. and another specifically geared toward taking care of your older horses at 2:00 p.m. There will be some tack and tractor vendors on hand.

Horse drawn carriage rides and a van shuttle will be available from the parking lot. Come enjoy the day, visit one of the finest equine facilities in Union County, meet some world class horses and trainers, visit some rescue horses and enjoy the day!
